The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager to lead safety across our field operations, shops, laydown yards, and operational facilities. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who understands construction environments, power-related hazards, and the realities of field execution.
The ideal candidate brings deep safety experience in construction, electrical, power, generator, or heavy equipment environments and has strong working knowledge of temporary power applications, energized work risks, power loads, equipment movement, and field service operations.
This is a build-and-lead role. The Senior Safety Manager will not be stepping into a fully built safety function with mature systems already in place. This person will be responsible for creating and strengthening the programs, processes, training, standards, and team structure needed to support a growing business. They will partner closely with operations, use existing support resources, and help build the long-term safety function over time.
This position is hybrid, based primarily in Austin, TX, with travel throughout Texas and surrounding states to support jobsites, shops, yards, training, and audits.
What You’ll Work On
Lead safety across field operations, jobsites, shops, laydown yards, and related operational facilities.
Develop, implement, and improve safety policies, procedures, training, and programs in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company standards.
Serve as the internal safety leader for work involving generators, temporary power, electrical hazards, equipment handling, and construction-related operations.
Conduct site inspections, shop audits, yard assessments, and hazard evaluations.
Partner with operations, project leaders, and field teams to ensure safe execution of work in the field and at company facilities.
Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions through completion.
Review and support Job Hazard Analyses, pre-task planning, safe work plans, and permits as needed.
Facilitate and document safety training for field and operational teams, including Lockout/Tagout, Arc Flash and Electrical PPE, Working at Heights, Rigging and Lifting, Hazard Communication, and emergency procedures.
Maintain safety records, audits, certifications, and training documentation.
Serve as the primary contact for OSHA inspections and external safety audits.
Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee safety development.
Work with current external safety resources and help build the internal safety function over time.
What We’re Looking For
10+ years of occupational safety experience in construction, electrical, power, generator, heavy equipment, industrial, or related operational environments.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and OSHA 1926.
Strong experience supporting active field operations in construction or power-related environments.
Experience with electrical hazards, generators, temporary power, power loads, energized equipment awareness, or related field risk.
Experience leading site audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action planning.
Proven ability to train, coach, and influence field and operational teams.
Experience writing, implementing, and improving safety policies and procedures.
Strong communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.
Willingness to travel regularly throughout Texas and surrounding states.
What Will Set You Apart
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Certifications such as OSHA 500, CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent.
Knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safe work practices.
Experience in generator service, temporary power, rental equipment, field service, or similar operations.
Experience building or scaling a safety program in a growing company.
Experience managing contractors, consultants, or direct reports.
Target Candidate Profile
Candidates should bring meaningful safety experience in construction, electrical, power, generator, or heavy equipment environments. General industry-only backgrounds without field-based operational safety experience are unlikely to be a fit.
